One of my goals as President was to model the NASG after the NMRA is
far as services go. The Mobley Library is an example. I pitched the
idea of having SIG's within the NASG (not under the NMRA, but similar
to the NMRA). The October 2003 Pres message in the Dispatch outlined
my proposal. However, at that time I abandoned the idea because of the
lack of response (There was 1). I thought it would be nice to have
groups like that that could get together at the conventions and meets.
But, actually, we have achieved that with the S-Scale Yahoo group get
together at the NASG national convention.

That brings up the following thought. There are yahoo groups for just
about everything S: scale, AF/hirail, Sn3, Proto 1:64, S modern
prototypes, and so on. There are general SIG's like the LDSIG (layout
design) and PFMSIG for Proto/freelance modelers that are based as
yahoo groups. Don't all these groups fill the function of a SIG?
