Everyone,

Thanks for the many, helpful references and replies. As it turns out, it would
appear that I was trying to re-invent the wheel... because unbeknownst to me,
the BTS (Southwind) brass item is apparently the exact thing I was
experimenting to build; I did not know that the BTS item was a 3-piece kit - an
Angle Cock and Gladhand connected with a small piece of tubing. I was going to
do the same thing by using a short section of very thin gauge wire and pulling
the brass (solid or stranded) wire out of its plastic coating and using the
coating as the air hose. Many years ago, I remember having some wire of this
nature, that when the wire was removed from the coating, the coating, itself
was extremely flexible. And it just seemed to me that this would have made for
the perfect simulated air hose.

But, I see no need to bother since the BTS part already represents this
approach. So I'll get a few of them and see if the tubing that comes with them
is flexible enough for my taste. If not, I'll be on the hunt for some
thin-gauge wire.

Thanks again, everyone.

  John-

Besides the very nice BTS brass and PBL plastic parts already mentioned, Des
Plaines Hobbies has this as a newly available injected molded item but hasn't
advertised it yet.

If you only need the Angle Cock and Glad-Hand and you like brass, BTS may be
the way to go. Item 02302 also comes with some spaghetti tubing for the air
hose. The glad hand is cast with a long brass "wire" that slips up the tubing
so you can bend the hose to a shape you like.
