I have taked to Don from SHS and Don has stated to me that he still
has intentions of producing the B&O I1 Caboose but it will be a
while. That being said, I have approached Jim King of Smoky Mountain
Models about producing the B&O I1 Wood Caboose in kit form. Jim has
shown a positive attitude about doing this caboose. I have sent he an
information package (prepared by the B&O RR Historical Society) and
provided him with a contact to obtain the lettering information he
need for the decals. It is now up to Jim to work this kit into his
product line plans, hopefully sooner than later. With the SHS 2-8-0
this caboose is badly needed.
I have been keeping track of individuals that would be interested in
purchasing one of these kit, If you are interested and have not
already contacted me please do so, as with any project there is a
mininum number required in order for the project to move forward,
currently I have about 30, I think 50-60 would guarantee to move the
project in the right direction.
If Jim does come through I will try to convience Don to look at doing
a B&O I5 wood caboose instead of the I1, we can never have to many
B&O rolling stock variations to choose from.
