There is little dispute that as a group all of the AM motive power runs
pretty well. The steam engines are actually geared axle to axle so the side
rods are almost ornamental! As with anything you may get a lemon
occasionally but they generally run well. If you get the optional double
worm gear that really cuts the speed down.

My biggest issue is the lack of pilots to allow for the Hirail coupler
swing. They are usually a gaping hole....

I will get some S12 at some point for PRR & PRSL. I broke down and bought an
A B A set of PA from AM last year. They run really well and have been out
for a long time. That project has been stalled for a while because I need a
late style stand off number board.
