I am new to this list. I have been modeling since 1968, bouncing
between Nothing, How Ordinary, and Oversized. I discovered SHS
several years ago through the Walthers catalog. I was even more
intrigued after purchasing some cars and comparing them to the other
scales. Further investigation led me to AM, the PRS kits, and the
NASG. My most recent purchase led me here. I have taken the plunge
and purchased an SHS F7A with DCC and sound decoders along with the
Lenz Set 100 system. This is quite a step for someone who thought
Atlas Selectors were high technology (;-).

Since I have a lot to learn, I hope I am in the right place. Are
there any members of this list close to the Northeast Texas area? I
am about 130 miles east of Dallas. Currently I am converting
rolling stock to KD 802 couplers and gathering kitbash fodder. I
will have a 14' x 16' room available in about a year to start
building a more or less permanant layout.

I need to learn about track, ties (I like to handlay), detail parts,
and the myriad of other items that haven't occurred to me yet. I
don't know much, in fact I have just begun to suspect a few things
LOL. Thanks for letting me into the group. This seems to be a well
rounded bunch I can learn from.
