If you live in a temperate region, beware itty bitty bugs.
I once made some coal loads for my (HO) hoppers using carved/sanded balsa
blanks covered with white glue then followed with corn meal and gloss black
paint. Looked great. A couple months later... there were "blank" spots in
them. Turned out itty bitty bugs were dining during the night.
Unfortunately, it wasn't lead based paint... so they only got sick... but
came back for more, apparently.
Beware itty bitty bugs.
