Hi All --
I don't know if my circumstance mirror others in business, but it was time
for us to retire! Although we sold the shop, the new folks were not versed
in trains of any kind, much less S. They were recently forced to close
when the landlord raised their rent 4 fold when our long term lease ran out.
There just ISN"T enough profit margin to sustain a store under those
circumstances, even without the pressures of the internet and its NO TAX on
out of state sales (which is what they do...).
I think the wave of the future is like many other businesses: be
large/vertically integrated or die. The Walmart way...
Have fun!

You can say that again. In the Bethlehem area we have lost three hobby shops
in the last couple years. He said that during the "Going Out of Business
Sale" guys came in and saw the 60% off signs and said, "When is it going
down more. You can still get it cheaper on the net!"
