I couldn't care less whether Hi-railers use AF or scale couplers.
Why does anyone care whether scalers have automated accessories on
their individual layouts? What am I missing?

Hi "Other Ed",

I was responding to this posting:

",,,we in "scale" could use some realistic operating accessories.

Tom Hawley -- Lansing Mich"

My assertion is that some old ACG operating accessories could be
bashed to scale and fit into a fine-scale layout and maybe Tom Hawley
& others in fine-scale just haven't explored that possibility yet,
even though it has been done repeatedly in hi-rail. When I suggested
this to Tom off List, he ignored me, so I wondered what others in
fine-scale on this List thought about it. It occurred to me that
maybe the time has come for some fine-scalers to take animation to
another level just to show what can be done in an acceptable way in
fine-scale. It sounded to me as though Ed thought it was a good idea
as well because he said he could do it. Since Ed is a prominent
figure on this List, I thought he was helping to plant the seeds of
inspiration. And why do I care about any of this? Because when
there are advancements in one part of the gauge, we all benefit.

Regards,
Tim Brown
