I havent been on the list for a while, dont know if this is old business
or new. The Des Plaines flyer mentioned some wood caboose kits. They
were produced excusively for Des Plaines Hobbies by Mullet River Model
Works.

I ordered two CNW kits, as usual the service was good.

These kits are wonderful. For me at least this is not a one day project,
but this kit really goes together well. Its laser cut, which is nice for
a wood caboose. It includes interior detail and a removable roof. The
laser cutting on the sashes and doors appears to be exact scale and is
fragile. The ends and walls are scribed interior and exterior, laminated
over a core. This makes a solid model and alows for slots in the center
core. They allow the windows to slide open and closed. Etched brass
sheet includes bolsters, end and center sills along with stifners and some
details. You need a small brake to bend some of the etched parts.

Although everything is drilled for railings and grab irons you need to
purchase wire separately along with trucks and some addition brake detail
parts.

I am enjoying this kit and it will be something to be proud of when I finish.

PS Ron, what is an "etch mate".
