I've been using Cadrail from Sandia Software: http://www.sandiasoftware.com/
It has templates for American Flyer track, but I've never used them
being a scale guy. The nice thing about Cadrail is that its a real CAD
program and I've used it to design model rolling stock, structures,
1:1 size furniture and a deck!
