As I responded to this email, I hit "reply all" and two individual names plus the [email protected] address popped up in the "To" address line.
If I hit "reply" it was addressed to just Ed. Am I missing something here? Why not just hit "reply all" to include the entire group? If in some cases there is reason to reply to only a specific individual, just hit "reply." Tom, I assume this list is intended to facilitate the spread of S information. If that's true, how do you know you're not interested in something you've never had the opportunity to see? It reminds me of an engineer friend who knows that liberal arts content for engineers would be a waste of time, because he never had any, and he never missed it. I'm familiar with Roland Marx' work from O scale lists. It troubles me that he asked for help modeling in S, and because the default is to answer off list, I have no way of knowing if anyone tried to answer his questions. I couldn't help him, being a newcommer myself. Let's see if I understand what you said: because you don't want to be bothered with email you might not want to read, we'll keep everyone from seeing it altogether. I guess I'll never understand this philosophy. There are so many off list transactions, that any meaningful archive of information is impossible. And now I'll get off my soap box for tonight. Both are easy to change. The way we have it now is still better than a lot of stuff of interest to only one person being sent to all of us.
