Folks,

I had mentioned the possibility of doing an annual to several NASG
people and also on this list some time ago. This annual publication
could be published by the NASG with a combination of Dispatch folks,
Promotion people and perhaps a graphic artist with publication
experience (believe me it would make a difference). And I don't think
it has to necessarily be "all scale". That being said we don't need
photos of rows and rows of every type of AF Atlantic engine behind the
layout. It could feature a hi-rail layout aka Brook Stover, a scale
layout, and an narrow gauge layout as the main meat of the issue.
Product introductions, product reviews, worthwhile ads and a couple of
construction articles could fill it out.

It would have to be paid for primarily by the advertisers and replace a
current issue of the Dispatch, be sold in Hobby Shops, and sold to
potential converts as a publicity piece. Since it would have a shelf
life of one year, advertisers would get a lot of bang for the $$, the
NASG would get a new publicity piece every year, and we would have a
really nice annual of the best layouts in the S kingdom!

Since the issue would be sent to each NASG member, displayed in the
shops and sold to everyone who has a couple of bucks, I would think the
press run of 15-20000 would be likely and bring the cost per issue in
line with hundreds of profitable commercial magazines.
