Nielson stats as of Dec 07 showed a 71% Internet usage in the US. A
USC Berkley study from a couple of years ago showed that 52% of Internet
users send Email. Assuming a 50% increase in that number over the last
couple of years up to 75%, then 'about half do email' is a good estimate.
When we talk to our customers, we ask about I'net access.... less than
half have it. About 20% of those who do have it admit to not being able
to find what they want on the web or know about Yahoogroups.
Based upon response we receive, i.e., actual product sales, from
yahoogroup product announcements vs snail-mailed product announcements,
and web site promotion vs magazine ads, printed paper is still the
king! And the most expensive advertising, that in Model Railroader,
gives us the biggest return on the investment... no matter the scale.
