Hi Marty, I'd use a guess-timate formula of 1% grade change per
longest car length, that should give the couplers, pilots, etc time to
adapt to the change. So you'd want one car length of 1%, next car
length 2%, next 3%, till you get to 4% in the 4th car length. Just to
make sure I'd then(as Ed said) use thick enough plywood roadbed so
that it couldn't make a too sharp transition anyway! ....dave
