Guys, The following is PURE conjecture on my part but....
As I just mentioned I really think the AF 2-8-2 is not bad looking. Since it is portraying a USRA engine and not something PRR, I can pretty easily give it a good 'nuff even if there are some inaccuracies. If I remember correctly the "new" AF 2-8-2 is running in the $700.00 range. I can easily see a conversion driver and wheel kit going to $250.00 by the time all is researched and produced. ($50.00 per driver + $50.00 for all the other wheels) Good drivers are mandatory for a steam engine and are rather difficult to produce. If someone wants to prove me wrong and put the kit on the table for $100.00 or less, again, I will hold the door open for you! So who here wants to have $1000.00 in an AF 2-8-2? Suddenly the Overland Brass Mike doesn't look that bad! True they are not always available for sale. But if anyone here REALLY wanted the Overland Brass Mike THAT badly you would bid until you won it or buy when you saw 1 for sale. If ANY conversion kits were to be considered it would be for the NEW AF engines only IMHO. Again would you buy a $250.00 wheel package for a 50+ year old $100.00 AF loco? I definitely would not go there as a manufacturer or a buyer.
