I like that method of operation.  So are you getting ready to start a new
layout?  I've been an operator on a friend's HO (gasp) layout and he uses
the thumbtack method.  Really simple for the session but what a nightmare to
set up.  I've helped him do that, and he has a method but for an evening
session, it takes 8 or more hours to set up.
