THE SUPPLY CAR, LLC and everyone else interested in "Nord"
Nord was one of the premieir S scale manufactures in 40's, 50's and early 60's
The made a variety of kits for S steam loco's, and I believe also had some
deisel switcher kits. Most notably I remember a 2-8-0, USRA style 4-6-2 Pacific
and 2-8-2 Mikado. They also put out several kits for refitting AF engines to
run on scale drivers and wheels...they were great and even made an AF engine
look better with see through spoked drivers of various diameters. I had a
hudsonn that I converted with an Nord kit and a rectifier...boy did that engine
go and hauled a ton. We ran it on the Houston S Gaugers layout in my hobby
shop/ S manufacturing/ S scale layout home in Houston. It looked really great
pulling a bunch of heavyweight varnish, blowing smoke and chugging
along...could enve slip wheels on start up if you wanted to...sound andlooked
great.
I have an original 50's Nord catalog, however it's already packed up for my
anticipated move and relocation to an S layout space with home attatched.
Peter Loeb, one of the forgotten original co-creators of the Houston S
Gaugers....now in Oregon.
