I was wondering if anyone has disassembled an SHS 2-8-0 -- boiler off,
motor exposed as if you had to replace the motor or gearing.
I am considering a kitbash of an SHS into a Virginian EL-3A unit. The
EL-3A's were siderod electrics 2-D-2 with 63" drivers. Before I just
start unscrewing the main rod and all the 10 or so philips head
screws holding down the gear box plate, I am hoping that someone has
already blazed the trail. If so, I'd love to hear about it.
