Hey Bill,
While I did not paint six O scale and one S cars this week, I did install three
industrial spurs on my layout. This included ripping out an old spur, laying
them out, gluing down the roadbed, sanding the road bed, painting the roadbed,
jigging up about 700 ties, gluing them down, sanding them, re-staining and or
staining them, and now begining to spike down the code 83 rail on them. I
would have never thought it, but hand laying track has become one of my
favorite parts of the hobby. Oh yeah, I also had the Cotton Belt "Blue Streak"
with an all Cotton Belt consist of SD40T-2, B40-8, B40-8, GP-35 pulling 15
double stacks and 10 spine cars making laps around the layout while I was
working. It has been said by others in the hobby that getting trains up and
running around the layout early on in layout construction is important to keep
fueling the urge to make progress. How true that is!

I have been skimming over the latest dead horse getting bludgeoned.. ..
Why does Des Plaines and SHS offer their cars set up for High Rail right out
of the box? Because that is how the vast majority of their BUYING customers
want them. It is a BUSINESS decision. They are in business to allegedly make
a profit.
Des Plaines got a photo of a new product featured in the largest Model
Railroad magazine and did NOT have to pay for it. How is ANY of this a BAD
thing? So it had Hi Rail couplers on it. (Geez we have not mentioned
couplers lately) Follow along here - that is how the vast majority of their
BUYING customers want them.
Make something commercially and offer it for sale on the S market. Go ahead
- I dare you. Business decisions will quickly override the opines of your
well intended Buds and the nano - micro market that is this list of vocal S
Scalers. (20 people?) Yes efforts can be made to straddle the line and try
to accommodate both factions. But - News flash! We aint driving the decision
train!
It is 7:08 AM on a Sunday morning. When I click send I will spin 180 degrees
and start decaling an O Scale flat car. Since Weds, I have customized 3 O
Scale boxcars by changing them to an Ajax brake system, masked and painted
those same cars in 2 colors, painted the O Scale flat car, painted 2 other O
Scale cars and 1 S Scale car. What have ya'll done or made besides email?
Can anyone reply that they have painted more then 7 cars this week? What
HAVE you modeled?
Thank You,
Bill Lane
