John...Is this a complaint, compliment, or just an observation?
Improvements come in small doses. Better than AF couplers for sure.

I just read through Kalmbach's new brochure INTRODUCTION TO MODEL
RAILROADING (a supplement to Model Railroader magazine) in which they
claim the minimum radius for S scale is 22-1/2 inches. How did they
arrive at that number? Interesting also is their discussion of
Lionel compared with O scale (toys vs. scale models). K-Line is also
mentioned. But no mention at all of AF as it relates to S scale.
Maybe that is good.

All the scales are briefly discussed with a paragraph for each. S
scale, however, is lumped in with Z scales with the following
description:

"Because Z and S scales have much smaller followings, the range of
products available is considerably smaller. Both are healthy,
though, and new models continue to appear. Each of these minority
scales has its advantages and staunch supporters, and who knows, one
day you might be among them."

Except for not having our own paragraph, I thought that was a
reasonable description of our favorite scale. Just an opinion, of
course.

Cheers...Ed L.
