The new SSA boxcars from DPH are nice, and one feature can be a bit of a test
to identify whether a potential purchaser is a real model railroader or a
toy-train person. That's the roof over-spray. He who sees it on the SSA cars
and compliments you for that realistic touch is a model railroader. He who
simply thinks its sloppy model painting is - - - well, an opportunity for
education.

I ran into some resistance in that respect at a train show a couple weeks ago.
As a result, I asked on the Modern Freight Car [yahoo] List and came up with
some photos of real freight cars with paint over-sprayed onto the roofs. I
will print out o few of them to help with the sales, and I here share them with
you. They are not necessarily cars represented in what's available from DPH,
one's not even a boxcar, but they should do the trick.
