Gents --
We already have plastic tie strip. Just take a length of Shinohara code 100
flex and pull the rails out of it. Very easy. You will have several
relatively short lengths of tie strip, plus two three-foot (or is is one
meter?) lengths of rail. The net cost of rail and tie strip is likely less
than what you would pay for separate rail and tie strip (if it were available).
You can do the same with Tomalco track, but be very careful -- Tomalco spike
heads are considerably more fragile (closer to scale) than Shinohara.
Regarding Miller tie strip -- I have a potload of it. I used it all in one of
my hidden four-track staging yards. Code 125 rail too. A little-known fact is
that current NASG-standard wheel sets will operate properly on old
NMRA-standard track. For old-standard turnouts, one must shave the frog points
a tad with a Dremel cut-off disk. Much easier than ripping up track.
And a footnote: Current NMRA track and wheel standards are the same as NASG
standards.
