There are some other guys who have covered the roof with a thin sheet of
plastic to get a more prototypical-looking roof--in the old days, we just used
orange shellac cut 50-50 with denatured alcohol.

I'd rather see accurately corrugated plastic sheet that matches the most
typical car sides--and roofs, in the case of Budd. If you could find a sheet
whose grooves were on the same pitch spacing as the corrugations, then widen
out the "valleys" as needed for decent siding. Yeah, doing it by hand with
dental tools sounds so tedious that I would be in my grave before I could get
the first car done.

  Ed,

I'm replying on-list for this one, and I think you'll see why.

I am guessing that these materials are no longer available from
Northeastern??? Otherwise there would be no great demand for them....

So is there enough demand to for someone to make a small production
run of reproduction parts? There is a woodworker among us (let him
remain nameless for the moment) who has the skill and possibly the
tools to make such parts. He would probably need samples of the
original parts to know what he is copying....

So how about it guys? How much demand is there for basic wood roof
and floor stock for passenger cars?
