Okay, I've found that Floquil is still available, but looks like a much
reduced selection. That question is answered.

I know that particle board (sawdust/glue) is not water resistant. Gets wet:
Crumbles.
Chip board is the stuff that I think is called "Luan". It's made of wood
shavings and waterproof glue. BUT, it has a rough surface. I've seen Luan
used unpainted for utility buildings.

And I may have to do something like that.
Downside is that painted plywood in an outdoor setting is the pits. If the
paint gets the least bit aged, and water gets to the wood: Ripples and
warping.
