Ed,

I know that they have trees in the West, I lived there when I was a kid.
The trees out your way are not spindly Pine trees like those that grow from
East Texas, Eastern Oklahoma to the Atlantic.  They are grown to a certain size
in tree farms for the most part and processes by large machines like aspargus.
Then they are cut up into short lengths,
held along the mainline at a siding in a woodyard for loading on Woodracks:>)!!

Ya'll have trees for the most part that are more valuable a dimensional
lumber for con-struction.

Watch it there Buddy Bob.....

The SP, UP, WP, SPS and BNSF all run/ran in areas of California and/or
Oregon where there are lots and lots of trees. Not to mention
Washington (state of) where there are even more pine trees. Trees all
over the place. Home of the Spotted Owls and Tree Hugging
Environmentalists. Yep, all kinds of wild life up in those woods. If
the SP ever borrowed/leased just one of these cars for a short time,
I'll bet Mr. Gibson would simply beg you to sell him your pulpwood car
kit. He is not as insane as might appear at first glance. (That's a
compliment, John, in case you did not recognize it.)

Cheers...Ed L.
