I guess I left out a step - you must swap the axle gears and replace the SHS one with the Bachmann one. The SHS wheel set you want is the one on the right - it has a "square" axle gear and larger axles that match the Bachmann gear perfectly. This swap takes about 30 seconds. Here is the caption from my photo album. These are the SHS diesel wheelsets. The one you want for the On30 trolley motor regauging is the one on the right - it has a larger diameter axle and the "square" gear teeth. cid:[email protected] Notice in the bottom view that the bronze "hat" bushings have been replaced by plastic washers to take up the lateral slack. cid:[email protected] I've added a pic of the bottom with the cover plate removed at: http://s-scale.org/albums/main.php/v/friends/dmunseyjr/on30-2-s/DCP5317-crpd .JPG.html Here you can clearly see the use of the Bachmann axle gear. Note that the knurling on the axle appears to be another gear on the axle - it does not interfere with the idler gears in the gear train. Hope this helps. Donald E.
