RE AM PACIFIC:
The AM Pacific does not have a so-called Wooten (actually a Colburn-Graham)
firebox. It is a standard large grate wagontop for bituminous coal as used on
the USRA heavy Pacific, which is the prototype for the AM 4-6-2.
You are correct, though -- unless your prototype has a firebox above the drive
wheels, it is going to be long and narrow and the AM Pacific won't do without a
lot of conversion.
RE DIALECT:
You don't have to be from different regions to have trouble understanding one
another. Here's a short item from the November 1901 issue Railway Magazine:
Passengers travelling on the Port Augusta line, South Australia, for the first
time are considerably startled, when arriving at a certain station, to hear the
guard yell: "You're a liar, you're a liar," and to have the statement
confirmed by the porter, who roars: "You really are, you really are."
Enquiries show that the apparently insulting language is due to a difference of
opinion between the two officials as to the pronunciation of the station's
name -- EURELIA.

---I am familar with Putt, this too would be a intense bash perhaps
less so them using the AM pacific. The immediate concern would be
the necessity to rework the firebox to eliminate the wide wooten design
