"Eminent Ed" has a nice ring to it. Maybe even better than "Brother
Ed" or "Uncle Ed" or "Mr. Ed" or "Nephew Ed" or whatever. As long
as you don't call me "Aunt Ed", I will not complain.

I'd like to provide more details, but don't have any to put on the
table. The S club is in the Los Angeles area and perhaps Jeff Smith
of Railmaster can help out here. My memory is weak. It has only
been at least 45 years since I was there in person. But Darrell has
the essence (S scale code word used by many) of the situation. It is
simply a trough about 4" deep by the desired width constructed of
pieces of wood and filled with some kind of plaster/cement. The wood
trough was still in place (I think), but probably could have been
removed. In any event, as Darrell says, the lack of sound from long
trains with metal wheels was erie (not Erie). If quiet is the goal,
this is a method that works although probably quite messy to build.

Having fun yet?...Ed L.
