I need some help, guidance or point me in the right direction.
I want to convert an AM GP-9 to a GP-7 (TH&B #75 to be exact). I have
purchased the Des Plaines GP-7 long hood, grills and handrail set as
well as a LokSound sound decoder. I have Harold Minkwitz's instuctions
on installing sound in an AM GP-9.
This is my first attempt at scratch building/kit bashing. I can follow
instructions but I don't visualize well. Are there any resources
available to help with the conversion? i.e. where do I start? what
tools do I need? what should I watch out for? in what order do I do the
conversion? Anything would be appreciated.
Also, is there a source for a winter hood?
For those interested, I will have my layout as part of the layout tour
at the NMRA Niagara Frontier Region Convention Apr 17-19, 2009 - The
Woodstock Turn. I think that Hank Duivenbode will also have his layout
on the tour.
