Peter I recommend the PTB-100 for what you want to do. I've carried both
but I have found a decoder or two that the PowerPax wouldn't work on. I have
no idea why, but the PTB did the job.
So far, knock on wood....thunk thunk (sound of me tapping my head), I've not
found a decoder that the PTB wouldn't work on.

do I also need something like the "PowerPax DCC
Programming Booster"
(http://www.tonystrains.com/technews/powerpax.htm) or SoundTraxx
"PTB-100 Programming Track Booster"
(http://www.soundtraxx.com/products/dcc/ptb100.htm) to provide the
extra power needed for programming, or does the LocoBuffer provide
enough "oomph" for the programming track?

Thanks,
- Peter.
