Does anyone have that SD-7 that shows up on the 1954 (give or take) AF catalog
cover? It predates the MILW-WC SD39L's by several decades.

  John....

I have an American Flyer ALCO PA that is missing the center axle on each
truck. I am pretty sure the prototype really had 6-wheel trucks and so my
model needs repair. Could you tell me how much it would cost to simply add
the center axle on both trucks, have the new axle geared and powered just
like the existing outer axles, and replace the AF wheels with scale wheels?

Since I am a serious and authentic AF collector, I would not want to
substitute an OMNICON scale conversion kit since that would ruin the
collector value of my prized loco. But obviously the Gilbert factory
shipped out one defective unit (mine) since it has only four wheels per
  truck.

I am sure your experienced group can whip out a fix for this very quickly
and so please try and keep the cost under $9.95 (plus shipping) so that my
  wife will not find out.

  Cheers...Ed L.
