Ed,

If you got 20% below the book value on HO brass you were lucky. The
HO brass market is in a total collapse (with ripples bleeding into the
other scales as well.) S brass is certainly way down in value. It's
a buyers market.

So, enjoy what you have today. Don't horde it up for tomorrow.

Just thought I would mention that I watched a trio of PBL slim
princesses (S.P. narrow gauge #8, #9 and #18) sell for $450 to $550ea.
These are premium factory painted gems, and while I am a fan of the
Carson and Colorado, I am doing S standard gauge so I did not bid. The
scary thing is how cheaply these sold given their pedigree ($1250 a
piece when originally sold by PBL. I think that high end stuff, for
now at least, is a dead issue (if you are a seller) to move on Ebay.

Having just sold off all my HO, most of it to friends, I watched the
three pieces of HO brass I sold on ebay, all PFM, fetch twenty percent
under what the brown book value was. I think this is a comment, better
than anything on CNBC financial news, regarding the state of the
economy. I have noticed, however, that most of the S Scale kits and
locos, listed on Ebay, seem to fetch a fair price. This is good place
to be...
