Ed... I generally agree that S is a good place to be financially...and not just for brass. The S market does appear to be stronger than HO. It would seem that the specific brass item is still what is most important. Supply & demand. I recently sold off all of my P-B-L Sn3 brass, as I'm now fully into S standard after 30 years of Sn3. Some of the WSLCo Shays fetched upwards to $2,500. None of the locos or cars sold at "distressed" prices...and most were premium priced.
It really was a travesty to see those fine SPng engines go so cheaply. They are very fine models. However, there just are not many Sn3 modelers for the SPng. Same sort of problem for C&S equipment, complicated by the fact that the C&S brass engines are all Overland products. I did an Ed L. and cleaned out a lot of unwanted "stuff" from the ol' closet a month ago and let Keith Wiseman sell it off on eBay. We did really well on everything...wood, plastic, brass. How about $92 for a mint Ambroid snowplow kit? Amazingly, everything sold at very fair prices to both seller and buyer. No giveaways. Ya never know.
