Speaking of the history of S scale, I remember as a kid going through old bound
volumes of MR in the Minneapolis Public Library on Hennepin Avenue. I recall
the ads for Cleveland Models that sometimes showed a PRR 0-6-0 and other times
a CGW 4-6-0. I also recall seeing an ad for an ALCO S-1 or S-2, possibly
Miller Models.

Not very many of the CGW Ten Wheelers show up on E-Bay. I recall having seen
two ads for said model in the last ten years, but perhaps I missed some. Even
more puzzling is the paucity of Enhorning F units. I recall seeing them on
display in the old All-Nation Hobby Shop in downtown Chicago. I recall seeing
such units as late as the Seventies. At the time I was in Lionel O but wearied
of the collector fetishes displayed by people at shows. I also wearied of
every box car beginning with the number 6464, yeah right! Sold the stuff and
risked all by going into S. I still have nor egrets about the decision.

If the Enhorning F units were the mainstay of diesel power, then I wonder why
so few show up on Ebay. In an old S-Gauge Herald I also recall an ad inside
the front cover touting the availability in way more road names than Lionel
ever thought of offering back then. I recall WP UP SP RI[freight] MKT, GN,
PRR, NYC, and quite a few others.
