Hi Stan; Sometimes Google will show a cached search from the now defunct MR Index. I got lucky, searching on "magazine article MR interlocking Darnaby (because I remembered the name of the author) produced these:
Model mechanical interlockings Model Railroader, January 2004 page 122 trackside rods that connect turnouts to the tower ( "DARNABY, BILL", INTERLOCKING, HO, MR ) Working interchanges Model Railroader, October 2003 page 60 live connections with other rialroads ( "DARNABY, BILL", DESIGN, INTERCHANGE, LAYOUT, MR ) I'm sure I have them, but actually putting my hands on those issues would be difficult.
