Hi all,
I just have been wanting to say hello for a long time but have just sort of
felt intimidated with everyone's knowledge. There were times I wanted to give
an answer to a question but I waited and others gave a much better answer than
I could ever give and I learned from them. I belong to several other model
railroad yahoo groups and over the years have started to get away from most.
But this group has kept me interested due to the conversations that take
place. Most of all kept me interested in model railroading and "S" when my
interest and time went in another direction. I have been modeling in 3/16 since
the early 80s which is nowhere near as long as most of you.
I have been on the open house tour during the national narrow gage convection
since 1990. My layout has been sitting dormant for over two year because I plan
to tear it down this fall to get ready to sell the house and move to our
retirement home. We will be completing that project next year. I did everything
to wrangle my way out of the three days off from work and having to struggle to
get the layout up and running again. The layout has not improved one bit since
the last open house of ten years ago and I just figured that I have nothing to
offer the convention goers.
I decided to take the boxes off the plywood layout and unboxed some trains.
This probably will be my last time to show in this convention because I will be
moving an hour from St Louis. So what the heck. What really got me started
again was reading this yahoo group on a daily basis and enjoying you fellows so
much. I actually found myself looking forward to reading it. You guys have kept
the pilot light lit for a lot of years. So I just wanted to say thanks and that
this is a great hobby because of the people in it.
