Subject: {S-Scale List} Introduction to the group
Most of all kept me interested in model railroading and "S" when my interest
and time went in another direction. I have been modeling in 3/16 since the
early 80s which is nowhere near as long as most of you.

I have been on the open house tour during the national narrow gage convection
since 1990. My layout has been sitting dormant for over two year because I plan
to tear it down this fall to get ready to sell the house and move to our
retirement home.

I will be moving an hour from St Louis. So what the heck.
Thanks

MIKE:

Are you now living in the St. Louis Metro area? Or somewhere else? One hour
from STL does not preclude you from playing trains with the S-Heads there. You
signed off with both S and Sn3 so I can't tell which is your major sport. If
you are now near STL you must surely know that there are more Sn3 layouts there
than in any other US metro. Also, STL is home to one of the larger and more
organized S clubs across the fair land, probably pushing 40 members at any one
time though guys like me come and go. The S club is infested with a super
majority of AF types, but we few scalers lie around the edges and save their AF
butts when they need help with a screwdriver or rail-joiner. I had belonged to
the club from 1986 to 1997 when I migrated west. I'm now on the verge of moving
back to STL and will happily rejoin the group. In addition, another scaler from
the BASS club in CA is near relocating back there also. As far as that hour,
the club is spread west to Rolla, MO; east to Vandalia, IL; south to
Carbondale, IL and north to Springfield, IL. So, an hour is nothing. I can
provide contact info for you for both the S club that meets once a month or the
leader of the Sn3 group though I have no idea what their meeting routine is.
