I can think of several ways to get a similar looking car, probably better
looking, without too much more work or cost than a new Crown model. I wanted to
buy one a few times, but actually looking at the car at shows always persuaded
me otherwise...

Ends:

Damaged AF reefer or boxcar, Ace/Permabuilt metal stampings, Loco Workshop
plastic or Stewart/Huff-n-Puff cast metal.

Roof:

Damaged AF reefer, Lionel 0-27 double door boxcar, Loco Workshop or PRS part.
AF and Lionel parts require filing off the running board.

Sides and under frame:

Evergreen styrene, Grandt reefer parts and ladders, NE or Tichy grab irons,
possibly Ace conversion floor or scratch built. Far out idea; apply the ends
and roof to the sides and floor of an SHS all wood reefer (expensive solution,
not sure how the height works out).
