Hi Bill,

I had sent Don Thompson requests for the IR Boxcab loco some years ago, and
would be very interested in this loco. That said, the prototype used very
unique trucks/sideframes, and I really feel that not making the correct side
frames available with the body would be a marketing mistake that would severely
limit potential interest in this model. In reality, I think the plan to do this
model without a good quality drive along the lines of an SHS switcher is likely
to doom this project to financial failure. Let's face it, people just aren't as
interested in scratch building (or even kit building) as they were 20 years
ago. This is true for S scale as well as the other scales. I know there will be
people on this list who will jump up and dispute this, and maybe there is a
higher percentage of "builders" in S than other scales, but there still are not
sufficient numbers to support the investment in traditional tooling for a
project like this, is it going to use some sort of rapid prototyping method?

Please keep us informed on this, and post pictures, too.

Regards,
Bill
