Bill has had the S Scale google group open for over a year. While there was little activity, there was also no spam. Like the Yahoo groups, they can be set to moderate new members until they post enough on-topic messages to assure they are not spammers.
The only thing I missed was the ability to require moderator approval of new members, but I may have just missed it. Pieter E.
