Hi All,
I have a SHS SW-1 diesel that I'm trying to get running. I have removed the
shell and all of the insides, choosing to hard wire and add sound. I'm trying
to
get the engine running before I do anything else. Here's the problem: I have
both ends of the orange and gray wires that are connected to the motor. I also
have the ends of the red and black wires that are connected to wheel wipers on
each side (four wheel pickup). After programing a new decoder, and connecting
the red and black wires to the red and black wires on the decoder and
connecting
the orange and gray wires to the same on the decoder, I can't get the motor to
turn over. The decoder works on other locos. I even tried another decoder that
is working on another loco. I don't believe the problem is in the decoder. I
tested the motor with dc power ( minus the decoder)and the engine ran fine. I
haven't tried string yet, Bob. There has to be a problem in the wiring but I
can't figure what I've done wrong. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
