Thank you, Jim. Good point about “long time guys”. I kind of stumbled into
this when I had my layout open for an NMRA event for the first time. They saw
what I had and encouraged me to apply. Turns out that I already had enough for
the MMR with my articles, my layout and my previous NMRA contest entries.

S guys should know that at least here they will count our S mags as “National
Publications” for Author points. The down side for S gaugers is NASG contests
don’t qualify: different judging system. But they will judge your models on
site without even entering them in NMRA contests. I think that the ones that I
had entered and gained enough points from did give me a lot of credibility,
however.

In my new role as Achievement Program cheerleader, I want to encourage all to
look into applying for at least some of the certificates. I believe it would
bring more exposure to S if we got more involved. Just another avenue for
expanding the scale. Here’s the link:

Roger: I'll add my congratulations. Well done!

As for other MMR's in S scale, I know of one. My good friend Pete Moffett has
his MMR. However he got his before he started to mess around with S scale
trains. Does it count if you come in through the back door? He still has his
On30 layout in the basement, but the S scale stuff he brings brings out to the
local train shows is top notch.

I wonder how many of us long time guys are closer to our MMR than we think when
we start to take stock of what we've done over the years.

Jim
