Welcome to the group. I just released you membership. You are free to post now. As with most scales most of us are transition era. Post 1970 is possible in S but not as prevalent as HO. Pre 1900 is a challenge for sure but not impossible. BTS http://www.btsrr.com offers some old time kits. Someone else (sorry - you know who you are) was going to take some static die cast models and heavily modify them. I have not heard anything about that in a while. It comes down to your level of commitment to the idea. I have been in S Scale for 23 years now. I drive myself crazy enough with my modifying projects. But I am sure I could not go down the road where I would have to make pretty much everything!
