The kits are not highly-detailed, but I always found their proportions 
satisfactory, first in HO, then in O scale.  If one is especially
fastidious, then one probably is better off scratchbuilding most of one's 
equipment, but for a modeler of average skills not so
concerned with specific prototypes and wanting a reasonable number of cars, one 
could do worse than MainLine.

It isn't as if S scale offered top-drawer commercial models for much before WWI.
