Michael is being very modest. He is the fellow who has singlehandedly
created the entire logging corner on the Mighty NYC layout. Everything from
locos, to cars, to structures, to advice, to weathering, etc. He will be a
great addition to S scale. He is an excellent modeler. As I have always
surmised, when someone moves from one location to another it is a great time
to consider a scale change - or maybe a scale addition (like in addition to
HO). I am happy to see the S scale bug has bitten again. Chomp...!!
Now for the other side of the coin. Considering the current state of
affairs in S scale, if someone asked what could they actually purchase these
days from in-stock inventory, I think the answer would be somewhat
disappointing. Much of the SHS products are sold out. Same with some of
the AM line. Brass imports are down to only one importer left who seems to
be doing only engines - no cars. Jim King seems able to crank out one new
loco per year (approx.) And so forth.
"S"eems to me that the variety of products in S scale is dwindling down
rapidly. Or is this only in my imagination?
Cheers.Ed L.
