Dear Pieter I'd appreciate that. This is more curiosity than otherwise, a way of gaining more perspective on what was available in S scale before I got involved with it. I would assume the SW-1 was a LWS, since that was the only previous one before the SHS, except for brass imports?
Another list member provided a step-by-step way to use my Bachmann EZ system, and Ken Zieska in the PPSW group has offered to reprogram either or both of my SHS 2-8-0's when I get up that way, but so far I haven't had a strong inclination to get around to either. Instead, I just pulled the DCC module from the tender and installed the shorting plug from my previous mint 2-8-0 (the next time I need to order something from Don, I shall see if I can get another plug, as the second 2-8-0 came without its box), and it runs fine. Since all of my other S scale locomotives are straight DC, I am in no hurry to deal with it all, although eventually, since I have the DCC module, I shall probably do something with it. I see where Ed Sauers got someone to buy the module from his basket-case one, even without the decoder, for $50, so I am not undervaluing having it all on hand, even if I don't use it in the near term. Can't complain, as the second one I stumbled across cost me less than half of a new straight DC from Don, even with having to order a few new parts and do some straightening and reattaching and paint touch up. VERY nice locomotive, but then the SHS switchers are, too.
