Thank you Bob.  The fit of the 396 motor is better than the original which 
caused the shell to bow.  The 395 is a perfect fit.  I would estimate the 395 
fitting with about 1/32" or less clearance on each side.

When I was an HO modeler, I thought NWSL imported the best motors which were 
Sagami.  However, I am no longer sure that Sagami's are the best option for my 
S scale applications (bang for the buck if you get my drift), and was very 
excited to learn about this inexpensive option from AM.  The 395 responds very 
well to DCC and I am sure even better with string.  <VBG>
