Bob,

I was actually in the middle of doing a similar truck modification because
of a broken ear, but mostly to attach the much better BTS side frames when
part of the gear box snapped off the trucks with normal handling. That is
when I found out about the brittle metal, got majorly discouraged and threw
everything back in the boxes for 7 or so years.

As far as interest, I knew there is some historical reverence here. I also
know that there are some amazing reworked American Models locos out there.
But for me you can spend a ton of time reworking them to get it up to the
detail level of the brass model right out of the box. If possible I will go
for the brass model first. Further it is not really possibly to modify the
AM units with what I have planned for the brass units.

I have only had 2 A M RS3 in my time, both of which are long gone now. 1 was
a CNJ and the other was an in progress PRR that was some of the inspiration
for what I am trying to do with the brass models.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
