Gentlemen and Ladies too..

I have just been informed the X2011W online shopping cart will be up and
running at approximately midnight on Friday of this week (California time).
This will be your chance to sign up for tours, extra cost clinics, swap meet
tables, merchandise (think S gondolas), and the famous NASG Roundhouse Revue
and BBQ too! I am not sure if everyone will have access immediately or if
only those who registered early have access at the beginning or what. You
will get an email when the time comes which will explain what to do. I
assume the hotel reservation system worked OK since I have not heard about
any major problems.

As usual, I would urge you to act promptly when ordering things to avoid the
SOLD OUT sign which can be displayed rather quickly. It looks like
king-sized beds at the Sheraton were all sold out on the first day. Of
course, maybe they only have two rooms with kings? Anyway, a word to the
wise should be sufficient.

For serious S folks who do not live in this area, I would heartily recommend
the following:

Wednesday's S Layout Tour - an all-day tour featuring two different train
rides (Amtrak and BART) with visits to the two largest standard gauge S
scale layouts in California and one exquisite Sn3 layout.

Wednesday Evening - NASG Welcoming Gathering with a presentation by Stephen
Priest who is the Editor of the NMRA's monthly magazine. Stephen's company
offers many different services to model railroaders in all scales and to
model railroad manufacturers. Some S projects will be discussed.
Strawberry shortcake will be served along with evening coffee. You will
have a sweet time for sure.

Saturday Evening - The NASG Roundhouse Revue and BBQ too! will be in the
roundhouse of the California State Railroad Museum. Roam the exhibits
without the crush of a maddening crowd. Dine in style on genuine
Texas-style ribs (both beef and pork) as well as chicken served by the
finest ribs caterer in Sacramento County. SACRAMENTO MAGAZINE has award our
caterer the "Best B-B-Q" award for the past six years. The California
Restaurant Association has awarded our vendor their "5-star Award" which is
the first time this status has ever been endowed on a ribs restaurant. You
will be impressed with this all-you-can-eat meal. Skip lunch to properly
prepare for this meal.

After dinner, the Hubba-Hubba organization of San Francisco will have a
troupe of entertainers to amuse you with a musical revue and comedy show.
If you are a real train nut to the exclusion of all else, this is the time
you can enjoy a very intimate experience with your favorite locomotive at
the museum. Examine that valve gear up close with no one else in the way.
Count those rivets without end. Check out the lettering decal film on the
tender of the SP cabforward.

After the musical show, the NASG meeting will commence with contest awards,
announcements, a few surprises, and who knows what else. This is the mother
of all events and you should bring your wife or girlfriend (but not both)
along to enjoy the evening with you. Maybe the kids as well! Just
purchase two (or more) tickets when you go to the X2011 shopping cart. Plan
on spending some serious money. This will be something you will be talking
about ten years from now. Do I exaggerate? Come and find out.
