I posted this message to the 64VintageVehicles group, yesterday,
but thought it might be of some interest here, as well.
I could hardly wait to get my hands on those new M2Machines Studebaker
trucks. For Christmas my daughter and her family gave me the complete
series #14 set that included the '49 2R Red Studebaker pickup and the '54
3R Light Blue (Turquoise?) Studebaker wrecker. This set also included a
1954 Chevrolet Bel Air, a 1957 Chrysler 300C, a 1957 Dodge Custom Royal
Lancer D500, and a 1959 Cadillac Series 62. All the models are excellent
models and should look great on any 'S' layout (considering the correct
time frame, of course).
On Friday, Jan 7th I went to a local Target to see if, by chance, they
might have the M2M series #14 vehicles. To my great surprise, I found
instead, the new series #15 Auto-Trucks. I bought 2/each of the new '50
'Surf Gray' Studebaker pickup with snow plow and '54 Black Studebaker
pickup. I also thought the little Chevy LCF (Low Cab Forward) semi
tractors were pretty 'neat', but didn't buy any that day. Then on
Wednesday, Jan 12th I went to another local Target and sure enough they
also had the new series #15 in stock. This day I purchased another 3 of
the '50 pickups with snow plows, and 1 of the Chevy LCFs. :-)
Here in Louisville they are selling for $5.49 (+6% state sales tax) =
$5.82/each. That's very reasonable, I think, for 1:64 scale vehicles with
the level of detail they have. (You'd probably have to spend at least
twice as much to get comparable vehicles in HO - at least, per my
observations).
I'd like to find more of the little Red '49 Studebaker pickups locally, as
my Dad had a '49 Red 3/4-ton Studebaker pickup years ago in his honey (he
was a bee keeper) business. (All in all my Folks owned seven (7)
Studebakers in their lifetime. And, I'm kind of fond of them, as well, and
in addition I used to own a '62 Avanti!)
I probably won't have any luck, locally, finding the series #14
Studebakers. However I have found an on-line store that has them - at an
unusual pricing strategy.
If you go to:

You will find the complete 6-vehicle set #14 for $22.72 (+S/H).
And, if you go to:
<http://www.collectablescorner1.com/servlet/the-2841/M2-machines-Autothentics-14/Detail>http://www.collectablescorner1.com/servlet/the-2841/M2-machines-Autothentics-14/Detail

You will find the Red '49 Stude pickup for $11.02 (+S/H).
And, if you go to:
<http://www.collectablescorner1.com/servlet/the-2849/M2-machines-Autothentics-14/Detail>http://www.collectablescorner1.com/servlet/the-2849/M2-machines-Autothentics-14/Detail

You will find the Light Blue (Turquoise?) '54 Stude wrecker for $9.74 (+S/H).
I think their standard shipping charge is: "$7.95 or less".
It's strange, but for only $1.96 more, you can get the ENTIRE 6-vehicle set
#14!!?? Obviously the set #14 price is the best deal, and the cars
included in it can probably be used on your '50's layout! I have no
connection with Collectables Corner other than the fact that I think my
Daughter bought my Christmas present there as it was a better 'deal' than
buying the two Studebaker M2M trucks individually.
The only negative I can see is that, as someone has already mentioned, the
bed of the pickup is not nearly deep enough. One could cut out the
existing bed and lower it, etc. But, who wants to go to all THAT
effort? Otherwise, the Studebakers seem to be RIGHT ON as far as being
1:64 scale.
I found a complete, color 1950 Studebaker Truck sales brochure at:

And, if you look at pgs. 14-15 you will find all the dimensions you might
want to check out the M2M Studebakers' size.
In any case, good luck 'hunting' at your local Target. I don't know how
long they will have them in stock, but my experience is that you need to
buy them WHENEVER AVAILABLE, as you may never see them again!
Regards, Randy Griggs
